The past couple of months have been a full-blown drama series, and I’m apparently the main character. Every single day something new and mildly unhinged pops up and politely (or not so politely) redirects the entire course of my life. We’re talking relatives passing away, projects piling up, a quick trip to Austin for my soon-to-be FIL’s 80th birthday bash, and a full gut renovation at work because apparently I thrive in chaos.
And it’s about to get even crazier—but honestly, that’s fine. I’ve also got a backlog of videos, Insta posts, and product reviews…so many product reviews. A shocking number of them are for things that did not work or did not live up to the hype. (I’m looking at you, overpromising skincare and hair products.)
On a more serious note, my grandfather passed away in June, almost on the exact day my grandmother passed away the year before. Weirdly, I was at peace with it; I know day-to-day life had become hard for him, and I can only imagine how off everything must have felt without Maw Maw after spending nearly 65 years with someone. It feels more like they’re back together and probably bickering over something small in the sweetest way possible.
Work-wise, I’ve been cranking out a bunch of posts for our business page, trying to wrangle more followers so we can lure people in and show off all the different tiles we offer. And now that we’re updating our showroom, that’s about to eat up a huge chunk of my time too. We’re taking down boards, packing up samples, and gleefully tossing anything and everything that screams “I was trendy in 2004.”
I’ve also been giving the church front entrance a little glow-up. It needed a mini makeover, and since we’re starting fresh this fall with a new “Faith Forward” direction, the lobby needed to stop giving “90s vibes” and start giving “welcome to a fun and modern church”.
And then there was my Austin trip…which was a whole experience in itself, so I think I’m going to save that one for a post all on its own. Warning there will be lots of food talk in the next post!
