I know I’ve been a little MIA on the blog, but I fully leaned into my Mother’s Day weekend and took the time off to just be and soak up every second. Sunday was slow, cozy, and completely stress-free—and yes, I’m absolutely a proud mom to my cat, Lingy, and my dog, Louis, who both totally run the house and my heart.
Here’s a little backstory on what I do for work. Right now, I’m the showroom manager for a tile company, and I’ve been in the tile world for about 16 1/2 years (a long frickin’ time)! I actually went to school for Interior Design, but when I graduated the housing market crashed—and that was definitely not the moment to jump into anything housing-related!
I picked tile because it was the one thing we didn’t really dive into in school, and I figured, “Well, while the market’s down, I might as well learn something new.” Little did I know I’d end up finding my niche. In tile, there’s a saying: once you get into tile, you never leave—and honestly, it’s kind of true.
This work week has been busy. Monday was all about getting ready for our fiesta store event, and then Tuesday threw in our president and one of our tile reps into the mix… it was a lot to juggle. Painting our own tiles just like the manufacturer does turned out to be way more fun (and weirdly therapeutic) than I expected, but by the end I was completely wiped. And because it was a fiesta, of course there were nachos and margaritas—which I was somehow almost too tired to fully enjoy. Tragic.
Tomorrow I’ve got a product knowledge meeting with one of my clients at their office, and back at the showroom it’s just 1 person in the showroom and 1 in the warehouse trying to hold down the fort while I’m out playing presenter. I am counting down the days til I get my massage!
